This first Net Zero home is part of a national demonstration project that aims to show how Net Zero homes can be built on a community level and actually be affordable for the everyday homebuyer. The reason that this is so exciting is because a Net Zero Energy home is a home that can produce as much energy as it consumes on an annual basis! In total, the project will feature 25 homes by five builders across Canada in Nova Scotia, Quebec, Alberta, and Ontario. As a result of that customer focus, Sherwood Homes has been very successful at earning referrals and even repeat business.

Thanks to his experience and industry insight, Scott identified an excellent growth opportunity by leveraging Reid’s expertise into the underdeveloped new rental property industry. The Royal Windsor is a five-storey condominium perfect for those with an active outdoor lifestyle, while Cobble Beach is a waterfront golf resort community set on 574 acres of uniquely rich and diverse landscape. The Royal Windsor will start construction this summer, while a number of purchasers already live at Cobble Beach. Again, Jennifer says the feedback from residents there has been exceedingly positive.

In the Royal Windsor in Collingwood, for example, their condominium suites can range from 660 square feet to 1,900 square feet in size. Their single family detached homes, meanwhile, have ranged from 1,200 square foot bungalows to 3,400 square foot bungalows. Over 1,500 people attended Take a Ride for MacKids to support the efforts. Families enjoyed face painting, helicopter and midway rides, and a silent auction. Children had fun safely exploring a combine, trucks and other large machinery. On June 18, 2017, Reid’s Heritage Homes raised the largest sum to date at its second annual Take a Ride for MacKids family event in Cambridge, Ontario. The new clinic will feature the latest technology and state-of-the-art medical equipment to care for children who are born with kidney disease or who develop acute kidney issues. They spearheaded Caring for Little Kidneys, a fundraising program created to raise $650,000 to redevelop the clinic.
She says that when there are issues, Sherwood Homes is very responsive and very committed to correcting them. The company’s two communities are called ‘The Cottages’ and the ‘The Masters,’ and both have earned a lot of interest and have sold quickly. Recently, for example, Sherwood Homes commenced sales on an additional 53 lots in The Cottages. In 1994, Tim and Charlotte Blevins established Sherwood Homes with the goal of expanding the company’s reach into northern Ontario. Actually, the first thing we noticed when standing in front of the house was the Tesla parked in the driveway! A Tesla representative was present, promoting their vehicles, charging stations, and Powerwall battery storage, which Reid’s Heritage Homes will be offering once it is available in Canada.
